What's Up MIMU,
I love the lesson plan ideas, but how can I be sure all my students feel included both academically and social-emotionally?

Great question, H4A. It's always important to think about the inclusion piece, and you're in luck because Udy's got a couple of strong points that she's shared belong. Check it out!

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL AND ACADEMIC INCLUSION
Teaching through the arts promote social emotional and academic inclusion in the following ways, It appeal to all learners because;

  • It is hands-on and multisensory, it is fun and engaging therefore allows students to learn without losing their attention.
  • It is collaborative, students work together in pairs or in groups. Students exchange knowledge and learn to listen to each other.
  • EAL students can participate fully. When students are enjoying activity, they are learning and letting down their guard down. The shyness and fear of using English very often blocks learning,when the students are involve in active fun activity, they will let their second language guard down and become less inhibitive.
